Sexual assault is any act of violence, either physical or verbal, in which sex is used as a weapon. It refers to any form of nonconsensual sexual encounters that is against the victim's will and without his or her consent. Sexual assault is about domination, violence and power. It is an abuse of power, designed to humiliate, intimidate or instill fear, which almost always involves some use of threat or force making it a crime.
